Please check back with us often, as we are constantly updating our frequently asked questions.

  • Front Load Washers

We suggest using high-efficiency (HE) soap and the recommended amount.

  • Eliminate Odors

    • Leave the door of your front loader washer open after every use.
    • Wipe boot after use.
    • Whirlpool brand Affresh can be used to eliminate persistent odors. This product can also be used in top-loading machines and is available for purchase at our location.

  • Refrigerators

For maximum efficiency, you should clean the condenser once a year (refer to the owners’ manual).

    • We carry condenser brushes for all major brands.
    • Clean door gasket with mild soap and water, Fantastic or 409 works great.
    • Once the door gasket is clean and dry, lubricate the gasket with Vaseline.
    • Do not overload or block air vents in the refrigerator.
    • If the water dispenser pressure is low, replace the water filter
    • We carry water filters for all major brands.

  • Ranges

    • Clean excessive grease build-up in your range before self-cleaning.
    • Clean up spills promptly to prevent damage to electrical components.

  • Dryers

    • Check your dryer's lint screen and exhaust system for heavy lint build-up.
    • This can be the cause of poor drying and lint fires.

A dryer dries your clothes by pulling in air from around the dryer, warming that air and forcing the warm air through the clothes while tumbling them. A dryer must have positive air flow to dry the clothes efficiently. This is why keeping the dryer exhaust vent clean is so important. Imagine if you were to hang your clothes on a line outside. You would rather have a 60-degree windy day than an 80-degree day with no breeze.

If you have a gas dryer that smells like gas inside, don't panic. Most likely, the dryer itself is all right. The most common reason is that fumes from another source are concentrated in the dryer. As described above, a dryer sucks air from all around it. Any fumes in the air will be concentrated in the dryer and on the clothes. Be sure to air out the house and laundry area if you have done any staining, painting, or varnishing.

  • Dishwashers

    • Wipe debris from dishes before loading them into the machine.
    • Clean the dishwasher's filtering screen at the bottom (refer to owners' manual).
    • Use the recommended amount of dishwasher soap and rinse aid (newer models work best with rinse aid). Dishwasher Magic is recommended and sold at our location.
    • Do not use liquid dish soap such as Palmolive, Dawn, Joy, etc. These cleaning agents are meant to create soapy suds that do not have the correct properties.
    • If the wrong type of soap is used and the dishwasher has too many suds, sprinkle powdered coffee creamer in the dishwasher to cut down the suds. Then run the unit through a quick rinse cycle to wash out the excess soap.
    • Another remedy to clean out the incorrect soap is as follows: If your dishwasher is still going through its cycle while overflowing, turn it off and unload your dishwasher. Use a bucket, a sponge, and some paper towels to remove as many soapy suds as possible. Be sure your soap dispenser is open, then place a couple of tablespoons of cooking oil in the bottom of your dishwasher and run your dishwasher empty. The oil helps to neutralize those never-ending suds. After your dishwasher has completed its cycle, pour a few cups of distilled white vinegar into the bottom of your appliance, and sprinkle a good amount of table salt on top. Then, rerun your empty dishwasher, ensuring the soap dispenser is left open. Depending on the severity of your bubble mess, alternate this above process until the dishwasher suds are gone.

  • Built-In-Microwaves

    • The grease filter should be cleaned regularly and can be washed in the dishwasher.
    • To clean grease/food build-up inside the microwave, bring 2 cups of water to a boil and turn off the microwave.
    • Let the water sit in the microwave for 5-10 minutes, and wipe with a damp cloth.
